Now I've spent the last half hour watching jet engine videos, which led me to this.
I remember watching this live when they tested it. A shame it will never be used.

Ah, the dreaded T-9 cell... The bane of my existence as a PMEL tech. The one I had to support was older than dirt with all of the associated random electrical/grounding faults, and then there is the adventure that is calibrating the vibe analyzer... That's always finding new and interesting ways to not work.

I've had 2 trips to the hush house, both during a school to work program I did at Selfridge ANGB near Detroit.
As an impressionable lad, the gentlemen from the Engine Backshop of the 107th FS took me under their wing and taught me about the F-16's powerplant. During my time with them we had 2 runs, one an engine only on the stand. The second, a full airframe test.
Needless to say, being mere feet from the nozzle at full burner, made my pants about 3 sizes smaller.
